How to Get NCKU from Taipei (Taoyuan International Airport)

Greetings new student,

First of all i would like to say congratulation for become the new student of NCKU and also welcome to NCKU and Taiwan.
If you are new student here and this is the first time you go to Taiwan, dont worry, I will explain to you and give you a short tutorial How To Get NCKU from Taipei

TAIPEI.

This is the biggest city in Taiwan and also maybe the first city you will visit after you arrive in Taoyuan International Airport.
If your destination is to go to Tainan, we have 2 different ways to get there. First is by BUS which is I do really recommend you if this is your first time or by THSR (Taiwan High Speed Railway)
But based from my experience, I will explain you how to go to Tainan by BUS from Airport, because if you plan to go by THSR you have to use MRT first to go to Taoyuan station.

After you arrived and get your stuff, first thing that you have to do is:

1. Go to the basement of the Arrival building

After getting out from arrival door, turn left and you will see an escalator going down. Go down to the basement and you will find Hi Life Counter

Go straight again and you will find some Buses Counter like this

I do recommend you to choose Ubus because it cheaper and they will stop near NCKU
Some of the staff can speak english so you will be safe.

UBus provide free wifi, but you have to download the application first to verify the wifi (the apps named Y5BUS, find it in your app store or google play). You can download it when you are in your home country or in the airport (Free wifi in airport)

2. Buy The Ticket

State it clearly you will go to Tainan (臺南市) or you can say wo yao qu Tainan (我要去台南) after that they will ask you what time.

If im not mistaken every hour there is a bus for Tainan.

After you choose the time, the staff will give you two tickets. First ticket's destination is

Zhong Li (中壢) . Zhong Li is a district where the bus for Tainan will wait you there. And another ticket is from Zhong Li to Tainan.

3. Queue.

Taiwanese is very polite and have manner in queue. After you purchase your ticket, you can make a line in the bus spot, which is in front of the buses counter.

Also dont forget to see the sign which number of platform you are (based from which bus do you choose)

4. Taoyuan International Airport to Zhong Li
It only takes 15 minutes and after that you have to stop in UBus station in zhong li and wait for your Bus to Tainan. Once again, see your ticket to know your bus number (Because there are a lot of bus go to Tainan but maybe its not your bus)

5. Arrive in Tainan
Taoyuan to Tainan it takes 5 hours so you can sleep or play with your phone in the bus
When you arrive, you will stop in UBus station (Last Stop of this Bus) which is near with Tainan Train Station and NCKU. You can take taxi which is cost you less then NT$100 or you can walk from UBus station - Train Station - NCKU which is only takes 5-10 minutes.

UBus station is next to family mart.
Walk to the South (family mart-85 cake shop) and in your left you will see Tainan Train Station

And go to the right side (A lot of Taxi wait for you there)

Go to this glass wall and you will see there is a stairs heading to the basement, go to the basement. (You also can see there is an elevator for disable and for person who brings luggage)

When you are in the basement, turn right and you will see another stairs and a long hall.

At the end of this underpass you will see stairs to go up and you are in the other side of Tainan Train Station also you are in front of Shangri La and NCKU
